Jim is definitely the "Mr. Gadget" of the group. A multi-talented individual who's musical education began at age 5,
Jim made his professional debut in 1968. As the featured Vocalist and bassist in such San Diego groups as "Super Colt" and "RockinHorse", Jim's reputation as an extremely talented and versatile entertainer has been well established for decades. In addition to guitar
and bass, Jim also plays harmonica, mandolin, lap slide guitar, and drums. He's also very adept at sound reinforcement and stage lighting. |
![]() The Tall Dudes' 'feminine influence' (read female vocalist) "Z", has been a well known and highly respected member of the So. Cal music community for nearly two decades. In addition to her engaging performances, she's also an accomplished songwriter,winning the 1994 San Diego Music Award for "Best Original Country Band" with her former group "Rockinhorse". She penned 7 of the 10 songs on their CD release, Too Good To Be True, which became 1999's #1 Country Album on MP3.com for 5 straight months!

His innovative arrangements of classic country, rock and blues tunes, along with the band's original songs, are the backbone of the band's unique sound and wide appeal. A musician's musician, Vic has played with virtually every music personality in and around San Diego county. Rarely seen without a guitar in his hands, Vic can be found giving guitar lessons to the next generation of local performers, when he's not amazing audiences on his own. |
![]() Drums/Vocals Bruce started playing music 34 years ago. He played his first "pro" gig 32 years ago. Educated in music composition and performance at S.D.S.U., Bruce began performing in clubs and touring bands at the age of 17. Having played at various San Diego venues including Belly-up Tavern, Civic Center and San Diego Stadium, Bruce has performed before 100s of 1,000s. As a percussion instructor, he numbers several successful artists among his former pupils. Included among them are New York session player Bob White and 4 time Grammy Award winner David Sanger of "Asleep At The Wheel". Besides utilizing a variety of solid, creative poly rhythm grooves, Bruce also possesses a fine singing voice that greatly adds to the distinctive Tall Dudes vocal harmonies. ( not to mention his extreme modesty) |
A perennial member on club circuits and of touring bands, Jimmy has earned a reputation as an energetic and congenial performer. His 'bottom-line, in the driver's seat', style of bass has helped propel the rhythm section of numerous musical collaborations, both locally and internationally. Behind a ready smile and an easy going manner, is a dedicated professional whose popularity among fans and musicians alike, has made Jimmy a very familiar face on San Diego's music scene for the past two decades.
